EQUIPMENT
On our investigations you will use a range of investigation equipment. At GHOSTnortheast we try and use both psychic and scientific tools to capture paranormal activity. We have listed some of the equipment that you are more likely to use on the night.
INFRA-RED THERMOMETERS


Infra-red or IR thermometers are a non contact way to measure temperature. Most commonly used in medicine, these thermometers allow us to measure any changes in temperature in a room, person or object. Investigators have often reported changes in temperature while investigating haunting and this equipment gives us a scientific record of any variants. 
DIGITAL VOICE RECORDERS

We use normal voice recorders to try and capture EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). This is when we can capture sounds that may not been heard on the night but the digital recorder have captured due to its frequency range. We use this with computer software to try and enhance any sounds captured.       
DOWSING RODS

Probably the oldest equipment we use and is classed as divination tool. Dowsing Rods were first used to detect water or energy and are still in use today. It’s believed spirits can use their energy to move the rods in response to questions and communicate with us with basic yes and no answers. Interestingly, dowsing rods can be traced as far back as 1518. 
PENDULUM

The pendulum is another divination tool and works in a similar way to dowsing rods. There are many different techniques using a pendulum from swinging or spinning to using it with a map. Most pendulums are made from quartz or crystal.  
EMF METERS – (ELECTRO MAGNETIC FIELD)

The EMF meter is designed to locate any man-made sources of electric and magnetic radiation and to offer a reading of the relative strength of an EM field. When any electrical current travels through wires or cables into any appliance, it produces an electromagnetic field, which is always present even when the appliance is switched off and the magnetic field which occurs when the power is switched on to the appliance. It is believed that spirits may use EMF as energy or emit their own EMF fluxes. We are interested when these meters show fluxes or irregular patterns as electricity is a constant and should show a regular pattern. Investigations have shown that activity peaks after fluxes have been recorded on the EMF meter.
